IN THE HEART OF BARBAGIA

A Journey Through Authentic Sardinia

Escursione Fuori Strada Orgosolo

Orgosolo

In the heart of Barbagia, Orgosolo reveals the most authentic side of Sardinia. Famous throughout the world for its murals, the village preserves a history shaped by traditions, identity and culture, transforming every narrow street into an open-air museum.

The experience continues towards the majestic Supramonte, one of the island’s most spectacular natural environments. Aboard an off-road vehicle, you will travel along normally inaccessible tracks, crossing limestone plateaus, ancient holm oak and cork oak forests, and landscapes of extraordinary beauty.

Along the way, you may encounter animals roaming freely, breathe in the scents of wild aromatic herbs and reach some of the most impressive viewpoints of the Supramonte massif, where nature reigns supreme.

A traditional lunch served inside a pinnettu, the ancient stone-and-wood shelter used by Sardinian shepherds, makes the day even more authentic. It is an opportunity to enjoy roasted meats, cured meats, local cheeses and the ever-present Cannonau wine while experiencing the genuine hospitality of Barbagia.

Giara di Gesturi

Barumini and the Giara di Gesturi

A journey through unspoilt nature and thousands of years of history, discovering two of Sardinia’s most fascinating places.

The excursion begins on the volcanic plateau of the Giara di Gesturi, a unique natural environment where forests, seasonal ponds and wild landscapes are home to the famous Giara horses, one of Europe’s last populations of horses living in the wild. This rare ecosystem offers scenery of extraordinary beauty in every season.

The itinerary continues to Su Nuraxi di Barumini, Sardinia’s most important Nuragic complex and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built more than three thousand years ago, this extraordinary archaeological site tells the story of the Nuragic civilisation through its towers, bastions and remarkably preserved ancient village.

Combining landscapes, culture and traditions, this experience allows you to discover two absolute symbols of Sardinian identity in one unforgettable day.

Tempio Pausania e Monte Limbara

Tempio Pausania and Monte Limbara

An itinerary into the green heart of Gallura, among spectacular views, ancient forests and some of Sardinia’s most surprising natural treasures.

The excursion begins at Lake Liscia, Gallura’s most important artificial lake, nestled among gentle granite hills and Mediterranean woodlands that offer scenery of rare beauty.

The route continues towards Luras, home to the famous Ancient Olive Trees, true living monuments of nature. Some specimens are more than four thousand years old and are considered among the oldest trees in Europe, making them one of the island’s most fascinating symbols.

The day continues along the scenic roads of Monte Limbara, the granite massif that historically separates Gallura from Logudoro. Surrounded by oak forests, cork woodlands and pine groves, the mountain offers views extending all the way to the sea. Its remarkable biodiversity makes it one of the finest places from which to admire Sardinia from above.

This experience is dedicated to lovers of nature, vast landscapes and authentic Sardinia, where every stop tells the ancient story of this extraordinary region.

escursione-furistrada-parco-7-fratelli-Sardegna

Sette Fratelli Regional Park

Sette Fratelli–Monte Genis Regional Park is one of Sardinia’s largest protected natural areas, covering almost 59,000 hectares.

Located in the south-east of the island, the park extends across the Sarrabus region and part of the Campidano area. Its mountains, forests and valleys create an ideal setting for an off-road experience surrounded by unspoilt nature.

The area is sparsely populated, and Burcei is the only village located entirely within the park. Travelling through these landscapes means discovering a quieter and wilder side of Sardinia, among panoramic trails, Mediterranean woodland and habitats of exceptional natural value.

Is Cannoneris Forest Park and Nora

Is Cannoneris Forest is home to an extensive and remarkably unspoilt holm oak woodland, considered one of the largest in Europe. It stretches from Santadi and Teulada, on the south-western side of the Sulcis Mountains, to Domus de Maria and Pula on the eastern side. The forest provides a habitat for numerous plant and animal species of exceptional natural importance.

The itinerary continues to Nora, located on the peninsula that closes the Gulf of Cagliari to the south-east. In ancient times, it was one of Sardinia’s most important settlements, flourishing during the Phoenician, Punic and Roman periods.

Rediscovered and systematically excavated from the 1950s onwards, Nora is now an extraordinary archaeological park overlooking the sea. Its temples, baths, mosaics and ancient streets offer a fascinating journey through centuries of Mediterranean history.

piscinas

Geo-Mining Park and the Dunes of Piscinas

The excursion includes a visit to the Sardinian Knife Museum in Arbus, where exhibits and historical artefacts reveal the origins and traditions of this precious symbol of local craftsmanship.

Another fascinating stop is the Historical and Environmental Geo-Mining Park of Sardinia, the first of its kind in the world and recognised by UNESCO. Its abandoned mines, industrial archaeology and dramatic landscapes preserve the memory of Sardinia’s mining history.

The tour then reaches Piscinas Beach, an extraordinary desert-like landscape dominated by some of Europe’s highest coastal dunes. Here, the white sand meets the deep blue of the sea beneath the vast Mediterranean sky.

Free time is available for swimming and relaxation, surrounded by one of Sardinia’s wildest and most captivating coastal landscapes.
